My name is Mary, I am a wife and mother of three, a girl and two boys. My daughter is studying Computing (1st year) in university and a son is studying Heritage Studies (3rd year) also in university.
My other son has finished his studies for the moment but may go back, he is interested in Agriculture and has qualifications in this area.
Both my parents are Irish, they moved to England and got married. I was born there and so was my sister, then my second sister was born in Ireland while my mother was home on holidays and wasn’t allowed to travel back home to England.
She had six months of bed rest before my sister was born. We then moved out to Rhodesia (now Zimbabwe) as part of my father’s job, where we lived for about nine years.
My brother was born in Africa and we were very all very happy there but my parents were missing home!
My parents decided they wanted to return home to Ireland and that is what they did. My second brother was born on their return and we have all remained since.
So you see we are an International family in more ways than one! Everyone of us has made our homes within a 8 mile radius of each other and I suppose that says a lot about living in Ireland. There is no better place in all the world I think, but I suppose I am bias but hey I feel its true.
I was working in a very boring job for 25 years (helping to bring up and educate my children). I was made redundant in late 2006, which at the time was devastating, but since has been a blessing in disguise.
At that stage I looked at my life, realised I knew nothing about computers, Internet and so on. So I decided to do a few courses, then on to University where I graduated with a degree in Business Studies, specialising in Accounting.
University was wonderful and really opened my eyes … I loved and had a passion for learning new things.
I have traveled on holiday to the Isle of Man, Northern Ireland, England, to Sydney, Australia and all over Ireland. Seeing the world is such an education and I think most of us enjoy observing how others live compared to our own local communities.
Learning is a curve that all of us do everyday and we don’t even really notice that we are doing it … from when we are born, learn to talk, walk, fend for ourselves and so on … we all can do it and to keep us focused and interested we need to keep learning.
I have learned to build my website, to add pages and upload them to the World Wide Web. All of this is quite an achievement you may say but if I can do it anyone can and it is much easier than we think it is!
We all need an interest or interests in different areas and what better way to tease out our passions than to search, investigate, research and write about them … this is what I intent to do with the rest of my life!
Check things out, look them up and review or report on what I have found.
We all need encouragement and this is what I intend to give others and expect to receive … the rewards are when we are happy and all our new and not so new friends are happy too!
I still have this passion, am learning new things every day and I would encourage others to do the same.
I have enjoyed this part of my life and still do. I’m not bored now! Thank you so much for calling by and please return because I intend to make this a fabulous and very informative website.
